The spotlight trap — where your attention goes
You're in a conversation. Part of you is talking. Another part is watching yourself talk — clocking how your voice sounds, whether your face looks right, what your hands are doing, whether the last sentence landed. The watching part is louder than the talking part.
That split attention is the spotlight trap. It feels like staying sharp. It's actually the thing making the conversation harder.
