Lesson 2 · The mechanic
The vicious cycle
An old friend sends a message asking to meet. You feel anxious right away. You tell yourself you'll reply later. You don't reply. A day passes. Two. Now there's the original anxiety, plus new guilt about not having answered. By day four it feels easier to just ignore the message completely.
What happened there is the core of social anxiety. The problem isn't the anxiety itself — it's what you do with it. The choice that looks like a way out actually makes the problem bigger.
This lesson is about that pattern. Once you can see it happening, you can stop it.
